Today more people are demanding higher quality education for their children, and a main component of this desire is the need for private education. A quality private education will provide students with both academic and extracurricular educational opportunities that are unavailable to many students anywhere else. Private education has also proven to be an effective way to bridge the educational gap between disadvantaged children and those from higher socio-economic status families.
Private education is independent of government funding and administration. Also referred to as private schools, of public, publicly funded, or privately funded schools, they are generally not administered by the state, the federal government. Many private schools receive financial support from tuition fee income and are free from the Common Core Standards and other government imposed regulations. There are many private schools that have a high quality education experience for their students and are accredited by a nationally recognized academic association.
In the United States, private education is available for all pupils regardless of their financial or personal circumstances. The goal of public schooling is to ensure social mobility. As most private schools are private, this provides parents and their children access to additional learning options that are often denied in public schools. Private education also provides children with a wide variety of academic and extracurricular programs that enhance social mobility.
Students who wish to pursue a college education, obtain a patent, work in government or business, or travel abroad can do so at a private education level. For parents that want their child to pursue a higher level of education, private schooling is a viable option. There are also some parents that feel like their child needs additional social interaction or support after entering into the public school system. If this is the case, then a private school might be your best option.
Private education offers a very nurturing atmosphere for students. Students in private schools are allowed to become part of a closed group that works together to improve themselves. Children can grow and learn with other children who are in the same situation. Also, socially independent schools allow children to be themselves in terms of dress, language, and culture. Although children attend private schools, many of them continue to take classes at the public school while attending private schools.
Over the past few years, the public-school sector has experienced rapid growth, especially in the state level. However, the private-school sector has seen a dramatic decrease in the past few years. This decline is likely due to the fact that many parents are now choosing to home school their children. Parents that choose to home school their children are doing so for many reasons including availability of resources, financial concerns, and the ability to provide a homeschooling environment that is totally separate from that found at a public school. Over the next several years, we will likely see a return to the public-school system as public schools experience cutbacks and layoffs. The end result is that the public schools will be forced to turn to the private-school sector for solutions.
